This Month: Published Again
————————————————–
Dear Readers,
It’s February, and, since the last I wrote you was in December, I think it’s time for you to hear from me again.
To tell you the truth, life (since December) has slowed down a bit. I have less responsibilities this semester because I have less credit hours, and so I have more time for other things like playing my guitar, writing, and spending time with friends and family. It has been refreshing to watch what I have worked so hard for solidify into something feasible; I accept the rest wholeheartedly. As a result, “the red folder” has been cracked open lately, and I have been confronting the enormous amount of editing before me. As you can see, “What is Friendship?” is the newest sonnet for “The Rose” and I am proud to keep my promise to you with it. But, as I said before, editing is work, so I implore you to keep checking the site for new work. I will do my best (as usual) to deliver new work on a semi-regular basis.
Also, as you can see, based on the title for this month’s letter, I have been published in Parnassus 2009: Taylor’s Art and Literary Journal again. I am extremely proud of this accomplishment, and even more proud of Valerie Prescott, my friend and winner of this year’s 1st Place Fiction. If you would like to see her work, I suggest you get a copy of Parnassus. If you would like to read mine, the poem “Stars”, which was published in Parnassus as well, is available on this blog.
In other news, I have begun work on my other professional spaces, expanding “The Rose” to a Vox blog and MySpace. If you’re interested in either of these, links are now available on the home page. I suggest, however, that you avoid them for the time, due to the fact that, as of now, they ONLY just exist, and you might find them both disinteresting. As work progresses, I will add it to those sites. For now, simply know that they’re there.
Every rose has a few thorns, but, this month, I do believe I have found its blossom. Too often I just can’t find the time to sit down to write, though, I have found, etching out a minute or two here and there is more profitable than it appears. Because, as always, my heart, my love for writing, is still a rose.
Much love to you all, and again, thanks for reading. Enjoy!!
Sincerly, Your Author,
Jessica A. McLean

Recent Happenings:
- “Stars” was published into Parnassus: Taylor’s Art and Literary Journal
- Editing, editing, and more editing. Attended a Literary Confrence, which wasn’t that helpful, but “the red folder” has been poured over. Hope to get results to you soon.
- Publication of “What is Friendship”, my second real sonnet ever.
