This Month: Still Writing

————————————————–

Dear Readers,

It’s December, and, since the last I wrote you was in October, I think it’s time for you to hear from me again.

First off, thoughts. These past two months have been transforming for me. Between school, getting laid off from my job, friends, and supporting my family while my dad has been in between the States and Mexico for business, it has been one hell of a two months. I have worked very hard, and that work has paid off in the form of good grades and a balanced household; however, it has left me very little time for writing, though I have a number of drafts waiting for me in a very packed folder on my desk.

As of Thursday, I am on Christmas break (again, also turning out to be very busy), so this leaves me some more spare time to dive into that red folder. I have started a few things, but I don’t expect anything to be finished before the new year.

But, it is worthy of noting, as I said before, that I cannot put in the time to release all of these pieces at once. Editing is work, and it can sometimes take hours to exact a piece. So, please, I must again ask for your patience. In return, I am working diligently, and, most likely, will release two pieces at a time. In the mean time, however, keep checking the site for new poetry! I wonder when the next two will show up??

I will say though, that “The Rose” recently celebrated it’s one year anniversary, which, I hope you all will concur, has been fantastic. Again, if it wasn’t for you, “The Rose” wouldn’t be possible, so thank you. 🙂

Also, recently, I have been thinking about where I want to take “The Rose”. I have considered limiting this page to small writings, like poetry and the ocassional short story or memo (in the form of a page), and expanding larger works to their own individual blogs. For instance, the story, “Jeremiah” which is a larger work, would progress on it’s own site, which would be linked to this one (home base). That way, I can post chapters as I write them, and you can read them as they come out. Also, I am adding a MySpace Profile as my own professional space. So, if you are more interested in me and what I’m up to professionally, you can check it out there.

Like I said, time to dive into that red folder of mine and get some writing finished!! Too often I just can’t find the time to sit down and do what I love, so though I’m still writing, my heart is still a rose.

Much love to you all, and again, thanks for reading.

Sincerly, Your Author,

Jessica A. McLean

Recent Happenings:

  • “Stars” was accepted into Parnassus: Taylor’s Art and Literary Journal
  • I have abandoned the project of Jeremiah and turned my sights elsewhere, seeing how it proves a challenge, and, due to time constraits, at the moment it is not my focus.
  • Editing, editing, and more editing. Sought out critical advice. Many thanks to Gabi Aharonov, my critic and fellow writer. 🙂

I’m Jessica
