“Marry me,” his matching Starbucks mug said
turning it toward her, so this could be read.
Her heart foamed as he got down on one knee,
and fumbled for a felt box, boyishly
asking if she’d spend her forever with
that cute college guy in the green sweater.
“Brian, yes!”, she gasped when she saw the ring,
grasping her mug tighter than anything.
Then, he slid diamonds on her finger,
and they embraced, he warmly kissing her
like a latte on this November day.
She held his face back in a mocha way.
Just behind them in The Bean, intertwined,
five years together endlessly aligned.
