“There are so many more moments like this,”
she thought, as batter squashed between her
hands. It was just them, him perched on the counter,
she putting chocolate-chip orbs onto
the baking pan. Suddenly, the world stopped,
and four sweet oceans met, trapped in time, as
if swiftly out of breath. “I love you,” he
said, kissing her in the delicious mess.
“I love you, too”, she whispered softly, to
his surprise at best. Her words back, he thought,
seemed to have a nice ring. There wasn’t much
more to it. It was a simple thing. It
had just come out, and now was there, mixing
in cookie dough, forever in the air.
