Two Stars

Two Stars

I, a star, am shining brilliantly,

quietly penetrating endless night.

Yet, because I’m a lone island in the

dark, I seek, like myself, another star.

I only wish to relate and share what

I observe, affixed here above the world.

Really, I suppose I just want a friend.

.

Light-years away, I think I see a star,

silently shimmering just like me! But,

when I freely ask if she will gleam with

me back, she says no; she prefers sparkling

solo. So, reluctantly, I let her

go. Nonetheless, if she ever chose to

shine with me, I would happily agree.

Dedicated to Elise Burchart. My star is shining and my heart is quite free whatever happens/whatever you decide.~
