Dead
Suddenly
The innocent
Their carcasses
Littering London’s avenues
In their hospitals
In their morgues
Some lethal insanity
That blew them to bits
Because of beliefs
Because of such hatred
That Terrorists brag
About causing crystal tears,
Ripped apart hearts,
Worried families,
A call home to mother,
Some forsaken gossip,
Many an eager tongue that tells
How others now walk to funerals
Surrender to comforting arms
Walk to mournful hospitals
With stained, wet faces
With eyes bleached red
And a slow deliberate step
The picture goes blank
The room is silent
Others with me depart
Seemingly in reverence but
I simply tie up loose hair
String up my shoelaces
Walk out with a swing in my step
And a hollow tune
Whistling readily from this mouth
That amiably knows
Meantime, there are
300 wounded
33 dead
3 trains exploded
1 bus non-existent
And 1 delicious walk to lunch
Casually waiting for me
Among the tears of London.
