Amos 5:14
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Thus says the LORD: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” Jeremiah 16:16 (ESV)
At 7 years old, I stared at the horrific chestnut mountain, fearfully wondering how I was going to get on top of it. In reality, Jellybean was an old chestnut pony that the barn used for beginning riders, but to me this wasn’t a jellybean, this was a mountain. The previous Christmas I had sweetly asked Santa for a pony; but, instead, he had brought me riding lessons. And finally, today I was going to ride. Suddenly, I felt comforting hands lift me into the saddle and my world changed. I could see farther than my reins could take me, but to get there I had to use my eyes to direct the horse to its destination. However, I didn’t know that. And as Jellybean plodded along, I turned my head to admire the view. It was beautiful until I ran into the barn wall! Only then did I learn that to get there safely, I must look where I wanted to go or have the horse do it for me.
Prayer: Dear God, let me always keep my focus on you. Regardless of the situation, may I always know that your way is the best way. In Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.
